An artistic conversation between South African painter, Wonder Marthinus, and two female artists, Cendres Delort (France) and Sonia Martins Mateus (France and Portugal).

The exhibition explores various aspects around the concept of landscape, the interconnections between the notion of landscape, the structures situated within specific landscapes and the poetics of the physical body as a structure within space. It navigates these visual languages through photography, video installation and painting.

The artistic process is guided by reflections on and around landscape, its conceptual scope and dimensions, with a particular focus on how constructed spaces can converse with the organic elements that compose a space.

Lay of the Land initiates a dialogue with the Klein Karoo region specifically, connecting spaces and territories (France with South Africa) through works that question the memory contained within the landscape and the body as territory.
