Woordenaar is a journey rich in sound and word, through the life and upbringing of a boy of white and black descent. It begins in the fields and plains of the Eastern Cape and the confusing and strange experiences on the Cape Flats. He is literally saved by the letter. The word in its most beautiful form. The more poems he reads, the more he knows himself. The journey is accompanied by an orchestra, through song and narrative, and carries you on wings right up to the end when the confused boy becomes a man with a voice. Churchil Naudé received the Neville Alexander Award in 2025.
