Conversing with a silent landscape.

Curators Juria le Roux and Brahm van Zyl invite established landscape painters to a conversation with the Karoo. The visual is employed as language… becomes language.

This is a landscape associated with silence – the challenge is to unlock and make the enigmatic more accessible. The artist steps into a direct dialogue with the landscape and acts as a visual translator for the viewer.

Elke kunstenaar beskik oor sy of haar eie unieke visuele taal, elke skildery ontbloot ’n gedeelte van ’n groter gesprek. ’n Intieme en persoonlike waarneming tussen die kunstenaar en die landskap word gedeel met die kyker en só ontstaan daar ’n uitnodiging om aan die gesprek deel te neem, om die landskap te verstaan en te geniet deur die vertolking of vertelling van ander. Om dieper te delf, om die “gees” van die grond beter te begryp.
