Where do we take place within reality? Where do we start when we try to understand the world?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How do we form the perceptions of reality that we then implement to make sense of reality, thus through myth and subjective speculations? Which stories are in the limelight and why should some exist alone in the dusk or darkness?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With these questions and motivations as starting point, Kobus la Grange approaches the <em>Myth Machine<\/em> . He transports the allegory of Plato\u2019s cave from a dusty archive to a suburban garage. Carved wooden figures, simple mechanics and a projector as light source orchestrates a shadow play on canvas, ceiling and wall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cycles of arrival, march and departure play out as the shadows shrink and grow \u2013 an echo of nature and history, a refrain of constant change set against the backdrop of deep time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Die werk nooi die kyker uit om kortliks deel te wees van \u2019n veelvlakkige ondervinding waar elkeen aan hul eie verhaal vorm kan gee, deur hul skadu te laat val. \u2019n Kans om hul eie mites te kan te\u00ebkom, of om self te transformeer terwyl hulle wandel deur die <em>Myth Machine<\/em>.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How does the light play on the objects we observe and where are the shadows?
