“Dear campers, if you get tired of city life, just take the Willewaters road – the above-average, soft gravel road. With extra-large camping sites, lush willow trees and rippling waters. An angler’s paradise, helpful staff, extra-wide super tube and man-made hot springs, with an exhausting daily programme for young and old ...” That is what was advertised, but if something sounds too good to be true ... Wynand van Vollenstee is Oom Frik, caretaker, owner and manager of the Willewaters Camping Site. Thiart Li plays the role of Oom Frik’s loyal right-hand man, Henry. Every December, they stand ready to welcome the vast Transvaler population. But when great tragedy strikes the campsite and people are forced to get to know Mother Nature, “blow-off mattresses”, nose-in-the-air neighbours, unfit children, someone’s stray dog and the snobbish chalet dwellers, things get really heated. Come have a good laugh and experience all the typical camping characters that always make an appearance at any campsite.
